With over 20,000 products and 125 years of history - under new ownership abc carpet & home was ready to overhaul their eCommerce + Store technology.

abc is the most iconic luxury home design destination in New York City, enchanting shoppers with its unique, unrivaled high-end rug offering since the late 1800's. Artefakt Consulting was tasked with translating the in-store enchantment + luxury customer experience to their online store.

Over the course of the following 90 days, the comprehensive migration from Magento to Shopify Plus marked a significant milestone in modernizing the retailer’s operational capabilities. The transition involved meticulous preparation of each store to ensure seamless integration with the new Shopify POS system. Both department stores' inventories were successfully migrated to Shopify, accompanied by the installation of a cusomised Shopify POS, which included payment processing, in-store CRM, and clienteling tools. An optimized and customized fulfillment process was developed to meet the retailer’s specific needs. Extensive POS training was provided to all store employees to facilitate smooth adoption of the new systems. Additionally, the integration of fulfillment and Product Information Management (PIM) systems was executed, supported by custom development to ensure a seamless transition.

A key feature - the preservation of existing product tags within the new POS environment, alongside the implementation of a new tagging system to efficiently manage both existing and incoming inventory, saving hundreds of hours of employee hours and improving in-store customer service during the transition.
